Orly Preamp

Orly Preamp

Hey dolls! Since I really wasn't feeling the jelly sandwich I posted yesterday, I was in the mood to change my nails to something simple and shimmery late last night. My girl Neeka from In the Life of a MILF sent me Orly Preamp a few weeks ago and I finally got around to wearing it. Preamp is the only color that I've wanted from the last few Orly collections. It is a pinkish-purple base, that is filled with golden shimmer. The formula was great; it was not too thick or thin. I used two coats of Preamp in the pictures below.
I love the simplicity and femininity that Preamp brings! The shimmer is stunning and is completely visible in all lighting. After wearing lots of glitters, sometimes I feel like I need to make my way back to the simple things I love and Preamp definitely fit the bill.

Do you get tired of glitter?

I do get tired of glitter sometimes. Sometimes you just need something simple.

I really liked this when I saw it in the shop but left it there because photos I had seen on the web it looked very pink for fall. But I never got the look in the bottle out of my mind. I finally popped for it off a web site at a decent $ - love it. It's much more purple than photos show. It also is darker than photos seem to show...making it perfect for fall. It's pink but it's purple too - leaning mauve range I would say. I love the particles in it (little bits of not high shiny purple and not rough to touch at all). It's not a good pedi shade for me this time of yr but perfect for a mani...I have it on now and have Let Me Entertain You (OPI Burlesque) on my toes - coordinated but not at all matching. LOVE!

Oh and yes...I get very tired of glitter - I get a glitter on and my eyes tire so fast i want to change polish the next day - which of course is painful because it's so hard to remove glitters you don't want to be changing em out ever day...thus I wear very few glitters ever now days...I am tried of the blow out/glow out/gritty look. a light glitter in a jelly sand OK - and also like a metallic or glitter tip line (maybe not even a gradient tip anymore). I keep thinking ever color possible is out there in glitter combos so stop - it's enough. I sure don't want to pay $8-$12 for a glitter on Etsy or other indie glitters anymore when I don't wear the ones I have now. time for a new thing to hit the market..and we are going to see pearl return this next yr in a big way if the runway got it right. Not a fan of pearl when it looks like a frost and all brushstroky - but if it looks like Essie Pearl Effect does - that's OK - that's a pretty look - sort of a shimmer and a pearl together. I also have some good pearl effects in CND Effects line

Preamp is so pretty on you! I don't really get tired of glitter because I rarely wear it, lol.

This color is so great, I totally love it and I'm not usually much for pinks! I found out it's great for layering when I tested it over a neon orange-the result was a shimmery bright coraly pink in the same color family as Flip Flop Fantasy. Rebecca Likes Nails also did some layering with it here: http://www.rebeccalikesnails.com/2012/09/31dc2012-day-24.html
