Julep Emilie & Poshe Top Coat

Julep Emilie

Hey dolls, today I'm wearing Julep Emilie. Emilie is a gorgeous forest green and its pretty unique in my collection. I knew I would love this color as soon I polished the first nail. I really like the brushes on Julep polishes...they are wider than the norm, but not OPI wide. The formula of Emilie was extremely pigmented. I only used one coat which is always awesome.

I absolutely love this color. I think it would be very easy to wear on most skin tones. I would be remiss if I didn't mention some of the issues people have been having with Julep. You can see this post from The Polish Aholic for more details, but it involves the referral link not working and uninformed members. I had debated whether I was going to cancel my membership, but after what seemed like a genuine and apologetic email from the owner, I think I will stick around for a few more months. If you'd like to join Julep you may do so HERE, but I like to keep my readers informed so you can make your own decisions about the company. I received my September box today and I will be reviewing it soon.

A few weeks ago I mentioned on my facebook page that I was looking for a new quick dry top coat. Even though I'm not pregnant or trying to be, the birth defect warning on Seche Vite doesn't sit well with me. I've been going back and forth between Out the Door and Poshe top coats. Today I'm wearing Poshe and I'm starting to realize that it causes some shrinkage if I don't apply it perfectly even, especially closest to the cuticle. It gives off the appearance that I didn't polish evenly which is not cool at all. It is thicker and dries faster than Out the Door though.

What is your favorite quick dry top coat?

I was having wicked shrinkage problems with Seche so I switched to Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat based on some reviews on a few blogs. I really like it. Not quite as quick as Seche but way better than all the others I've tried. I think it's big3 free as well.

Thanks for the tip! I may try the Revlon one. I like to be able to get my top/base coats on the ground where they are easily accessible.

Girl, you're going to have me pulling out Emilie quicker than I was planning too! Gorgeous on you.

Seche Vite has a birth defect warning?!? I didn't know that. I'm not looking to get pregnant either but that just doesn't sit right with me. Damn, and I have a near full bottle too.

I'm really liking two right now-Nubar Diamont and Revlon Quick Dry. I use Diamont on cremes ONLY. I find that it dulls glitters and shimmer. But on cremes it's great. I like Revlon Quick Dry for everything. Thinking about it and I've been using these two exclusively for about two months now.

If you get the Revlon I suggest waiting until a drugstore has a sale. I got four bottles (one for my mom) when Rite Aid had a 40% sale on all Revlon cosmetics. Glad I did. Have my top coat situation on lock for a while. :) I've also heard a few good things about Color Club 0-60 and CND Air Dry. I think I'll be trying out Air Dry next.

Whew, that was a mouthful. Sorry for spamming your comments like this!

Isn't Emilie gorgeous?!? Yes girl, check the side of your SV and you'll see that warning. I've heard some good things about Nubar Diamont. I have a couple of Amazon gift cards from swagbucks so I'll use it on that. That's 2 for the Revlon top coat...I'll invest with my CVS extracare bucks. Girl please, you aren't spamming, you're helping a girl in need! Thanks for the recommendations.

Not the most original shade - but agree with you, I love it. Over all of what I have seen from Julep, that seems to be a theme with them at this point, stable of good shades, but have not jumped over fences and through hoops to come up with lots of amazing finish options yet.
