The It Girl box contained Leighton (silver metallic), Jaime (blue creme), and an Age Defying Hand Brightener. The only color I really liked was Jaime, but I read on several blogs that it stained horribly. I may try this one for stamping, but I don't want to deal with blue fingers/skin. The Hand Brightener went straight to my swap list...I didn't even try it. I don't need anything to block melanin in my skin...lol.
I did give Leighton a try though. I've said before that I don't like silver foils/metallics on my complexion; Leighton was no exception. While it went on nicely, I was left with lots of brushstrokes. The formula was not as pigmented as the other Julep polishes I've tried, so I applied two coats.
Meh...the shade doesn't really do anything for me. Yet another silver polish bites the dust. This one is heading to my swap list. My box wasn't too great this time, but I'm looking forward to trying the three colors I got for November. If you're interested in signing up to be a Julep Maven, here is my referral link.
How do you feel about silver foils/metallics?

Jaime stains? Well damn. I was going to use that as a base to UP. Oh well, I'll find another polish.
I don't know, I like Leighton. Do you just not like silver? I mean in general. The thing is I see all those foily silvers as Christmas/New Year's polishes so I never wear them unless it's the holidays.
Nubar Foundation Base Coat works amazing to prevent staining! I use something like OPI Nail Envy or a regular base coat and then I use the Nubar and proceed with painting. And I totally feel you about the skin brightening, I love my brown skin and its radiant on its own and needs no help other than regular lotions and creams to moisturize. I just signed up for this so I havnen't gotten my first box yet but I like this concept despite bad reviews I'm giving it a chance.
I am still not sure about the Maven program. I get busy and might miss the cut off time to have a shelf pull. I typically don't like these clubs where things are picked out for me. I do like some silver metallics but not this one for sure!
Good to know. I have the Nubar Diamonante topper but not their base coat. Will have to try it - despite I don't have much of any issue with staining. I use tons and tons of nail oil = Barielle Intensive Renewal Oil and Barielle Nail strengthening cream...I learned a long time ago if your nails are well hydrated you don't have a ton of openings in the top of your nail for color particles to get in there to stain. Too much top buffing also can take off this protective coating of the natural nail. Maybe after the first of the year and my surgery is well on the way to recovery and we are starting to plan for phase 3 of it, I might try the Maven for a few months and just see if I like their polish.
Toss your hand brightener into a give a way or donate along with some other things to a women's shelter -- they love to get personal items like lotions. Typically brightening lotions don't have enough effective ingredients to do anything but temp add some glow or shine to the nails. Anything strong enough to really change color has to have a prescription from a doctor. Years of those take my spots away products never really work well. The one newer and highly reported on/rated well by Clinique is not anything more than what one gets in a hydroquinoine that only helps after years of 3X a day use on VERY light freckling that comes right back soon as folks hit the sun. I serious double (as a clinical chemist speaking here) that this product is going to change your lovely skin tone!
Already planning to swap it out!
This month was definitely a miss for me. Its usually a lot better.
I've never tried Nubar's base coat...I'll look into it. I usually use SH Double Duty and it prevents staining from most polishes. I had read so many different places that despite two coats of base, Jaime still stained so the color just isn't worth it for me.
It's so weird...I love gunmetal grays, but silvers do nothing for me. I'm going to swap this one for sure. Let me know if you want another bottle. :)
