OPI I'm An Aqua-Holic & SoFlaJo Guardian of the Lake

Hi dolls, I finally decided to jump onto the indie polish train and several arrived over the weekend.
SoFlaJo Guardian of the Lake & Field of Clovers; Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker & Bayou Blitz; Elixir Lacquers Calypso, With a K, & Kind of Connery (for a polish friend)
Maybe I'll make this an indie brand week. As I'm still wearing blues on Mondays this month for autism awareness, I wanted to wear SoFlaJo Guardian of the Lake. I started with OPI I'm An Aqua-Holic, which is an extremely sheer blue metallic polish. The color is so gorgeous in the bottle, but I think this may be better as a layering polish. I applied 4 coats...yes...4 coats. I usually don't go over 3, but I really wanted to get to the bottle color. The formula was extremely thin.
Once again, this was 4 coats. After seeing these pictures, I was actually kind of glad that I was going to cover I'm An Aqua-Holic up anyway. SoFlaJo Guardian of the Lake is a top coat that has blue glitter that shifts from turquoise to blue to violet. It also has some holographic particles. Guardian of the Lake dried quickly to a very smooth finish. I applied one coat over I'm An Aqua-Holic.

This looks much, much better! I need to try Guardian of the Lake over some different base colors. This isn't really the best combination to show the color shift, but I like it much better than I'm An Aqua-Holic alone.

What are your favorite indie brands?

Thats is pretty I don't have any indies(except for one that I hate) but I do want Floam more than anything!

Very pretty! I tell you all the time, but I really do love your nails!

I haven't gotten into the indie scene and probably won't. There's nothing intriguing enough (yet) to make the effort to purchase them, lol.

Awww thanks! I had to cut them...they were getting too long! Luckily, I don't like most of them because I don't really go for chunky glitter. I do like the ones that look like jelly sandwiches.

Lol! Which one do you hate?

Very pretty, but four coats? Damn. When I buy more nail polish (I really am in a no buy now) I'll be getting some indies. If they're available that is.

Yes girl, 4 and it still was that sheer! Good luck with your no buy...you can do it if I could!

You got Jawbreaker! You must have had an inside track. Polished and Pretty's etsy shop has been closed for awhile - opens again tomorrow. I am so hot to get Jawbreaker!!! You picked up some good ones. Have fun getting into the indies off etsy! I don't think I have ever seen swatches of I'm An Aqua-Holic done to the point you got it's amazing on it's own - right where you stopped with it for your base.

I am liking Dollish, Nerd, and a ton of others WHEN they are in stock and WHEN the stores are open...hard when folks make up small batches and this indie thing has so caught on...plus having the selling venue of etsy plays into the game of it's out of stock always for the scale most average folks are working at.

I so want to get some of that auto body painting powder called Spetraflair and add it to some clear polishes to make some shades. I have seen some done and the linear holos are amazing. But I like a lot of the lighter (as in non made to be opaque) indie glitters with 2-3-4 types of glitters in them. I don't like the really chunky ones however. I am into a cleaner look right now. Jawbreaker as I said, is pretty darn perfect as they come...and that's odd for me to say since I tend to like most of my indies in a clear base so I can use them over tons of shades...but Jawbreaker is in that milky white base.

I was definitely lucky to get jawbreaker. I just happened to be online when I saw that the story was about to open. You can order spectraflair on eBay. I'm not that into linear holos, so I never ordered any.

You gotta try NerdLacquer when they open again!

I'm an Aquaholic is such a beautiful color, it really sucks that it's so sheer. I'd love to have that color in a more opaque version. Guardian of the Lake also sounds like the kind of polish that would be right up my (turquoise and purple colored) street!

Let me know if you want to give Aquaholic a try! I'm always up for swaps. :)
