Breast Cancer Awareness ~ Glequins

Zoya Flora

Hey dolls! Today I have for you my first of several breast cancer awareness manis, which will take the place of Pink Wednesdays this month. Most of my long-term readers know that my mom is a two-time breast cancer survivor, so these looks are near and dear to my heart.

I recently received a set of loose glitter, affectionately known as "glequins", from BornPretty to review and I knew immediately that I wanted to use them for a BCA look. I started with two of my favorite Zoya pinks: Gilda and Flora. Three coats of Gilda were used and two coats of Flora for the accent. After Flora was dry, I applied the glequins individually by dipping a small dotting tool into top coat and placing them on the nail. I must admit that this process was extremely tedious. It took about 30 minutes to complete the accent nails.
Although this took way more effort than I expected, I love the final product! The glequins are small, but still very easy to apply to the nail. The pots are jam packed with glitter, so they are well worth the price. I barely made a dent in the glitter that was just stuck to the lid with this mani. This set comes with 12 different colors of glitter for $6.45. If you'd like to order this set from BornPretty, feel free to use my coupon code of TPJ61 for 10% off your order.

Ladies, please take the time each month to complete your self-examinations. Early detection is the key! For more information on breast cancer, how you can make donations, and to get involved locally, please check out Susan G. Komen and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Reader's Choice Mondays ~ Cult Nails Power Thief

Cult Nails Power Thief

Hey dolls! Hope your week is off to a great start. My birthday was on Sunday and I had a great weekend celebrating with hubby in Destin, FL. I didn't do anything special to my nails, even though I took polish with me. I ended up keeping NOPI Just Busta Mauve on the entire time, which was fine with me.

This week's winner of the Reader's Choice poll was Cult Nails Power Thief with 43% of the votes. Power Thief is a gorgeous brown filled with silver flecks. The formula was typical of Cult Nails awesomeness and I used two coats in the pictures below.
I've been in the mood for brown polish lately, so Power Thief was right on time. I love the silver glass flecks in this polish. Have you noticed yourself reaching for darker colors yet? I usually wear the shades I want at any time of year, but lately I'm reaching for dark shades.

For next week, I have three of my untried ManGlazes for you. Please take a second to vote in the poll below!

Nicole by OPI Just Busta Mauve

NOPI Just Busta Mauve

Hey dolls! Today I'm wearing a shade that I've wanted since I first saw swatches last month. I try to stay away from Target as much as possible (their clothing section is the death of my wallet), but I made a special trip just for Nicole by OPI Just Busta Mauve. The formula was thin, but not problematic. Just Busta Mauve is so complex; it's mauve, brown, shimmery, and just hard to describe. Therefore, I'll just leave you with a bunch of pictures. Please click to enlarge these!
I just love everything about Just Busta Mauve, including the super cute name! This is the kind of shade that just stands on its own to me. I put this on earlier this week thinking the pink undertones were strong enough to use it as a part of my first breast cancer awareness look. I never got around to adding anything to it (which means there will be 2 BCA looks next week so I can catch up). Hope you all love this color just as much as I do!

My birthday is on Sunday, so hopefully I'll have time to come up with a fancy look for the weekend!

Mentality ~ The Metallics Collection

Hey dolls! I have a new indie brand to share with you called Mentality. The first collection from this wife and husband duo is called The Metallics and consists of five shades, described as the colors of the rainbow meet the wealth of gold. All of the pictures below are with top coat.
Envy is described as a bright yellow green with gold undertones and flakes. The formula was very pigmented and was almost opaque in one coat, but two coats were used for depth. I liked Envy in the bottle, but I'm not a fan of it on my skin tone.
Crave is described as a light purple with gold and blue undertones and gold flakes. This shade pulled very pink on me. Crave had the sheerest formula of all of the polishes in the collection, but it wasn't problematic. Two coats were used in the photos below.
Covet is described as a blue green with gold undertones and flakes. I had no issues with the formula and opacity was achieved in two coats. Covet is an interesting color; I like the way it looks on me.
Desire is described as a golden orange with gold undertones and flakes. You all know I like oranges, so  Desire is fine by me. Two coats were used in the photos below.
Lust is described as a coppery red with gold undertones and flakes. Lust is hands down my favorite in this collection! The gold shimmer really stands out, which I adore. Lust reads more orange on me than red, so it's a winner in my book. I took so many pictures of this one! Two coats were used in the photos below and these were taken in my light box due to rainy weather. As a side note, I did have slight staining with Lust, so be sure to use a good base coat.
I like that Mentality is bringing us indie creations that aren't just glitters. If you are interested in learning more about this brand, please check out the facebook page and the online store where you can place your orders now. Full size bottles (15mL) are currently available for $6 each.

Reader's Choice Monday ~ Butter LONDON Victoriana

Butter LONDON Victoriana

Hey dolls! Today's winner was Butter LONDON Victoriana with 75% of the votes. I bought Victoriana  during Ulta's BOGO BL sale last year, which means this has been untried for over a year. Victoriana is a gorgeous dusty blue that is filled with silver shimmer. The formula was amazing! It almost applied itself. Two coats of Victoriana were used in the photos below.
Love Victoriana! This shimmer is gorgeous and it puts me in the same mindset of a more muted Zoya Skylar.

For this week's poll, I have a couple of neutral/nude polishes for you to choose from. I haven't worn this type of shade in awhile. The poll will close on Friday as usual. Many thanks to all of you who take the time to vote!
