Julep Maven "It Girl" Intro Box

Julep Sienna
Nanette Lepore, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch

ShopStyle

Hey dolls, a couple of weeks ago, I posted here that I had signed up for a Julep Maven box. My box arrived on Thursday and I was super excited to see the goodies in person. The box comes nicely packaged in a sleek black box. Inside of the box is a Julep bag that contains your nail goodies for the month. Here's what I got:

Your intro box comes with a welcome letter from the founder and a summary of the Maven program. Pictured above is Sienna (gold), Emilee (green), base coat, Facial for Hands Glycolic Hand Scrub, along with samples of the hand scrub and hand cream. I used the hand scrub this morning and my hands still feel great. It has a nice citrus-like smell that isn't too overwhelming. I'll give a full review of this product once I've used it more.

First, I used the Julep base coat, which dried quickly and very shiny. It would be great if you wanted to go "naked" for a day or so. I chose to apply Sienna first because I wanted a lighter shade as I've been wearing dark colors all week. Sienna is described as a sophisticated, shimmery gold. The formula was very pigmented and was nearly opaque in 1 coat. I applied 2 coats to try to even out some of the brush strokes. The brush on this polish was amazing...it allowed the polish to go right where I wanted it. I barely had to do any clean-up. Dry time was relatively quick as well. I was worried about the shape of the bottle and it being unstable, but its fine as long as you're working on a hard surface. Onto the pictures:

I love this color in the bottle, but I'm not a fan of it on me. It reads more silver on my skin which I tend not to like. Because of how opaque it is, I think this color would be good for stamping. Who am I kidding though, I barely stamp. I may try this again in some simple nail art or it may go onto my swap list. I'm pleased with the Juelp Maven program so far, just not this color on me.

If you'd like to sign up for the Julep Maven program, HERE is my referral code. Leave a comment if you decide to join!

When you request a shelf pull, they are supposed to give you a different polish option. I haven't requested one yet so I'm not familiar with the process.

It's actually green...the picture just makes it look more on the teal side.

The formula of the one that I tried was really good. I'll probably wear the green polish next week.

I got the kit 1st time also and received a melon shade and platinum. Cannot read the clear bottle so need a magnifier to find out what it is! lol 50 the eyes go! hahaha Will try the hand scrub later. Do you think a new shelf pull makes a difference? I tried the test several ways to see if it would come out different, maybe it is my age, always the same results

I think it's pretty on you! I didn't think about the bottle stability but good to know it's not a problem.

The teal shade in this box will be a good one to wear for the month of Sept for 'Teal Toes' and Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

Oh, that's right - I forgot you can request a new shelf pull.

Yes, I am curious how the formula is. Looks like it would be good from the photos I have seen of it.

I am not too much of a fan for the program from this company. I like to pick my shades. When I did their quiz it came up with some odd things for me. I do like the bottle shapes if they did fit for certain into my boxes where I keep my polish. $ is tight - and basically I guess I want to know what is coming, approve it or say no.

Have you tried any of the polishes yet?

That's weird...it says its the "It Girl" box...but the name isn't as important to me as what's in it. You're right about the formula...this is my first time trying this brand and I'm pleased so far. Hopefully the fast dry top coat will come in a future box. I'm excited to try the cuticle oil in the September box.

Love the green! I signed up a while ago too. I think the first box isn't your "it girl...thats the one they email you about later. Because I got "American Girl" but my first box was like yours (different colours though) and now my next box coming is the "American Girl" one (except I requested a new shelf pull). :) I love the quality of these polishes though and the base coat is my go to now!
