Ombre Nails with Zoya Mira

Zoya Mira
Kris Nations, Spring Step, Moschino Cheap & Chic

Yesterday I decided to partake in the trend of ombre nails. This was after I had a failed attempt with my Bundle Monster plates. I didn't realize there was such a learning curve with stamping...but that's another post. I saw some really pretty pics of ombre manis on one of the nail forums I frequent and wanted to give it a try since I messed up my Zoya Tanzy mani during stamping. Ombre manis can either be going from a dark to light  shade on each nail or a progressive dark to light across the hand.
I decided to go for the dark to light across each hand. In comes Zoya Mira...this shade was on my list of untrieds and purple polishes are one of my favorites. I would recommend using a very saturated, opaque color for this technique. Here's how it turned out!

I'm really pleased with the way this mani came out for my first attempt!!! Here's what I used.
The pinky finger is the original shade of Mira. I then added 1 drop of White On to Mira for the ring finger, 2 drops for the middle, and 3 for the index. I added 1 drop of Mira to White On to get the lightest shade on the thumb. I would recommend using aluminum foil or something durable that you can throw away for this process. I started off with a styrofoam plate...FAIL. Some polish remover got on it and it ate through the plate...luckily I saw it before the polish got all over the place...smh. You'll also want to clean your brush after each finger so they don't mix.

How do you feel about this technique??? Would you like a pictorial??? I think I'll be trying this again for sure!!!

Swatch Alert...Zoya Tanzy

Zoya Tanzy
Fossil, Kenneth Cole, Forever 21, Michael Stars

Happy Memorial Day dolls!!! Zoya Tanzy is the perfect color to kick off your summer season! It is a bright, tangerine-like orange shade that has tons of gold shimmer in it. No one does shimmers like Zoya, in my opinion!!! This color glided on easily and smoothly. I did not have any issues with the formula. In the pics below, you may see a little VNL (visible nail line) because I only applied 2 coats...I was in a rush to meet with a friend. I'm sure with 3 coats, full opacity would be achieved, but it didn't look bad to me at all. Here are the pics...

I love, love, love the way that Tanzy looks on my skin! Just look at all that shimmer...every time I looked down, I would smile at my nails. Unfortunately, I screwed this mani up after only 1 day trying to use my BM plates. Oh day I'll get the hang of stamping. Please let me know if you have any tips...

Are you into orange?!? Happy polishing dolls!!!

Nail Fanatics ~ Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Emerald City

SH Xtreme Wear Emerald City
Urban Outfitters, Lucky Brand, Topshop, Disney

This week's Nail Fanatics theme is Emerald for May's birthstone. I did not realize until I went to do my mani, that I only have 1 emerald green polish! This must be remediated The one that I do own is Emerald City by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. I absolutely love this polish! It makes me think of a Christmas Tree. If you look closely, there's a little bit of shimmer. This color became fully opaque in 2 coats and there were no issues with the formula. On to the pics...

All of these were taken with flash...they seemed to be more true to color. Emerald City is now discontinued, but it can still be found on amazon. The SH website recommends Going Green, if you cant find Emerald City in stock. I love the Xtreme Wear polishes!!! They come in really fun colors and they can be found almost everywhere (Target, Walmart, CVS, etc...) for under $3. Its definitely my go-to bargain polish.

As I'm in the market for some more emerald greens, what are your favs?

Pink Wednesday ~ OPI Sparrow Me the Drama & Silver Shatter

Hey dolls, this is my first official "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink" post...yay!!! Today I'm wearing OPI's Sparrow Me the Drama from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. This color is a dusty rose pink, that is slightly muted...its not too bright, not too dull. If you like pinks that aren't too "girly", then this is the shade for you. I purchased this shade from my local Trade Secret over the weekend. I had no clue they sold nail polish...I only thought they had hair products. So imagine my happiness when I found a place where I could get OPI on the ground!!! Back to Sparrow Me the Drama...the color went on okay. It was a tad bit streaky, but I was able to even it out in 2 thin coats. I picked up OPI's Silver Shatter as well. No issues with the formula here. On to the pics...

love the way the shatter looks with my ring :)
This was a late night mani, so sorry dolls, no outdoor/sunlight pics. I'm pleased with this mani...I think the silver shatter accent spices up the pink. I have a few more colors from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection that I'll be swatching soon. Unfortunately Mermaid's Tears was out of stock, but she put me on the contact list for when the next shipment arrives!!!

What are you wearing for Pink Wednesday?

Nail Fanatics ~ Wet n' Wild Caribbean Frost

Caribbean Frost
House Of Harlow, Anthropologie, Lizzie Fortunato

On one of the forums that I frequent, LCHF, there is a Nail Fanatics sub-forum where each week there are themed manicures. The theme for this past week was teal. Enters Wet 'n Wild Caribbean Frost. This is an awesome teal shade! The formula was easy to apply and I didn't have many issues with visible polish strokes as you sometimes do with a frost. This is 2 coats of Caribbean Frost without a top coat. Here are some pics:

It was really hard to capture the green undertones in this shade, but hopefully you get a good feel for it. This shade definitely reminds me of the Caribbean waters and our recent honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Here are a few pics below. :)
