Pure Ice Vinyl Remix Polishes

Hey dolls, today I have for you a review of the Pure Ice Vinyl Remix Art in Motion crackles. A few months ago, Bari Cosmetics sent out a request for bloggers who would like to review these polishes and I signed up. While I know most people are over crackles, these are not the norm. The Pure Ice Vinyl Remix  crackles come as a duo set with a Platinum Magic white base coat and the colored crackles. All of the crackles look black in the bottle; you can only tell the difference by the color of the label. First, you have to apply a coat of the Platinum Magic white base. The magic actually occurs when the crackle is applied, as the base changes colors. The formula on all of the polishes was thick, but manageable. I applied one coat of the white base and a relatively thick coat of the crackles for each photo below. The crackles dry to a matte finish, so I applied a top coat. Unfortunately, the Color Club top coat made the crackles bleed a little bit.

Up first is Rave, the orange crackle.
DJ Spinner is the green crackle.
Vintage Remix is the purple crackle. This photo was taken quickly in my light box, so it's not as good as the others.
Emcee Me is the yellow crackle. I wore this one for several days and got lots of compliments. I always forget that everyone isn't engrossed in the nail community, so some people still really love crackles or aren't that familiar with them.
To close this post out with a bang, I wanted to do a rainbow crackle mani. I didn't think I would like this nearly as much as I did. I ended up doing this on both hands and I'm still wearing it as I type this post.
Overall, I think the Pure Ice Vinyl Remix polishes are pretty cool. They were easy to use and cracked well, no matter how I applied it. These polishes are available at Walmart. The only downfall is that they come in duo sets with the white base coat and a crackle. Therefore, you would have multiple bottles of the base coat if you wanted all of the crackles. I'm not sure of the price because I didn't see these on Walmart's website, but Pure Ice polishes are usually pretty inexpensive.
*Update...I've heard from some polish friends that these are $6.97 per duo.*

Have these polishes made you rethink crackles?

P2 Crackling Topcoat ~ Red Volcano

Hey dolls, just a quick post to show you another P2 crackle. I've never tried a crackle over a nude (and I didn't want to take Cult Nails Baker off) so I added Red Volcano, a deep burgundy crackle with gold shimmer. I applied one relatively thick coat of Red Volcano and it cracked well.
Since I have been wearing Baker for 4 days, this was a great way to extend it one more day. It also helped because I really didn't feel like doing a completely new manicure.

What do you do when you don't want to change your nails?

P2 Crackling Top Coat ~ Blue Thunder

I loved Catrice Bird of Paradise so much that I didn't want to take it off after wearing it alone for three days. I decided to try out one of the crackle top coats I received in the Sugar Nails giveaway. Blue Thunder is a light metallic blue that I thought would pair well with Bird of Paradise. I applied one thick coat and it cracked perfectly!
I was right; I love the way these two look together! A lot of people are over crackles/shatters, but I don't mind pulling them out every once in awhile (especially when it looks this cool).

Pink Wednesday ~ Finger Paints Pink Imagination & ChG Latticed Lilac

With my reduction in polish purchases, I'm wondering how many more Pink Wednesdays I'll be able to do... we'll see how it goes. Today for Pink Wednesday I'm wearing Finger Paints Pink Imagination. I grabbed this shade on a whim a few months ago from Sallys because I needed to add another Finger Paints polish to my purchase for an additional discount. Pink Imagination was sitting right there on the counter on a display for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation. My mom is a two time survivor, so I always grab items where proceeds benefit this awesome foundation. Pink Imagination is an adorable light pink that is full of silver shimmer. The formula was awesome! I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this brand, but I'm glad I finally did. Three coats were used for full opacity.

I love how soft and girly this color is. I wanted to switch things up and add some stamping to this mani...FAIL. I guess I just don't practice stamping often enough to improve my skills. Welp...when all else fails, I can rely on some crackle to switch things up. I used China Glaze Latticed Lilac as accents on my ring fingers and thumbs. One thin coat was used.

Love this! Crackles never let me down...well at least not often...lol. It looks so nice and subtle. I can't wait to try this with other base colors.
What are you wearing today??? Tired of crackles/shatters yet???

ChG Oxodized Aqua Crackle & Giveaway Winnings

Hey dolls, yours truly won a giveaway last week on Polished Components...woohoo!!! Her blog is really cool, so check it out. Here's what I won...
*3 of the new ChG crackles: Cracked Medallion, Oxodized Aqua, & Latticed Lilac
*LA Colors Art Deco striper in blue/purple glitter
*2 nail art kits
*Holo spectraflair top coat
*Lots of other goodies...perfumes and lotions

I decided to try out China Glaze Oxodized Aqua over Reggae to Riches (see swatches HERE) since it already has a blue duochrome. I love this color combo. I applied 1 medium coat of the crackle and it came out well. No issues at all.

I really like how shimmery these are! I typically do crackles for accents, but I wanted to do a full hand so you could see the full effect. They are so easy to fall back on when I'm too lazy to do any other nail art. I'm excited to try some of the gems and decals from the nail art kits because I didn't own any previous to these winnings. Thanks again to Polished Components for the awesome giveaway!!!

Cult Nails ~ Always Winning

Hey dolls, I'm so excited about the Sade/John Legend concert I'm going to tonight! I think they will both be so awesome! Here's just a quick post to show you what I'm wearing. The theme for the week in the Nail Fanatics forum was green. I decided to use Cult Nails Always Winning. This is an olive green base, packed with lots of gold shimmer. I was expecting the formula to be similar to that of Captivated, but Always Winning was very sheer and thin. It took 3 coats to build up a look I was happy with, but another would probably be required for full opacity. The brush on these Cult Nails polishes are amazing...I never have to do any clean up! Onto some pics...

I have to admit, I wasn't immediately a fan of this shade. It definitely had to grow on me...I like it because its unique in my collection though. Its one of those colors that you either like or don't like at all. I decided to add China Glaze Cracked Medallion as an accent to see how it would look.

I really like the bronzed look of Cracked Medallion. Its a very subtle contrast in person. I'm excited to try this over some different bases where it will stand out more. I'll also try Always Winning layered over another color to see how it looks. Happy polishing dolls!

Nail Fanatics ~ China Glaze Sun Worshipper & Broken Hearted

China Glaze Sun Worshipper & Broken Hearted
Kate Spade, Miss KG, Ella Moss, Paul's Boutique

Hey dolls, the theme for this past week was neon to help celebrate the first days of summer. I decided to go really, really bright with this mani. Because neons can be somewhat hard to apply, I started with a base of Sally Hansen White On. I used 3 coats of China Glaze Sun Worshipper to even out all of the streaks. This color is a bright, neon orange...and I do mean bright...think orange hi-lighter bright. As most neons, this dried semi-matte.

I didn't really like the way it looked by itself, so I decided to add China Glaze Broken Hearted Crackle.

This was definitely a fun look. My nails got lots of attention as I was shopping yesterday. I like the color contrast of the pink and orange! I really need to get some polish thinner though...this crackle has gotten so thick since I first used it a few weeks ago. I could only do thick coats, which is why the cracks aren't as big as I would like. I want a couple of the new ChG metal crackles...but I really don't use them that much. Maybe after this untrieds challenge...

BTW...I just realized I've surpassed 100 followers!!! Woohoo!!! My very first giveaway will be posted very soon. Thanks so much for keeping up with me and my nails. Stay tuned dolls!

Nail Fanatics ~ Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On & ChG Broken Hearted

Hey dolls,
This is a late post, but the theme for last week in the Nail Fanatics forum was all white. I decided to use Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. I've only used this polish for my stamping attempts and when doing an ombre mani. The formula is a little on the thick side compared to most of my other Xtreme Wear polishes. I think I may need to add some thinner to it. It was very streaky and balding in some areas with one coat, so 2 coats were a must. Here's a pic.
White On had a very stark contrast against my complexion. I think I may need a softer white to pull this look off. I had to go to my sorority's scholarship ball on Friday night, so I added China Glaze's Broken Hearted to give this mani some color. I added the crackle to just my thumb and pinkie for accents.

I absolutely love this look! Broken Hearted definitely took White On up a few notches. I got compliments all night on my nails!
What's your favorite white polish???

Pink Wednesday ~ Cult Nails Devious Nature

Hey dolls! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means...here's another edition of On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. Today I'm wearing Devious Nature by Cult Nails. This is my first time trying this brand. I ordered after seeing a few people talk about it in the PAA group on facebook. Cult Nails had a really good promo over the Memorial Weekend, so I ordered 4 shades. The package came super quick...I ordered late Thursday evening and had a tracking number by midmorning Friday...it was delivered on Tuesday. Gotta love great customer service!

Back to Devious Nature...this is a creamy shade of hot pink that has lots of berry/purple undertones. I'm not sure why, but it seems different from a lot of other pinks in my collection. There are no words for how awesome the application is on this polish! As I was doing my nails, I kept mumbling "wow, this is awesome" as my hubby tried to talk to me about the basketball game. The polish went on very smoothly...it wasn't too thick or thin. The brush was long and easy to work with. Dare I say this rivals my beloved Zoya...I guess I'll leave the verdict out until I try another shade. Enough rambling from me...on to the pics...

This was 2 coats of Devious Nature with a top coat of SH Double Duty. I mistakenly grabbed the Double Duty (which I use as a base coat) instead of the SV...which I wasn't very happy about because it caused a few bubbles. But SV came to the rescue and I was able to recover and smooth out the coats. After work, I decided to add China Glaze Crushed Candy to this mani to see how it would look. In my mind I was singing the OutKast song Pretty Pink, Baby Blue...but this was a total FAIL. This crackle did absolutely nothing for me. It didn't work nearly as well as the others I've tried.

Devious Nature is barely peeking through. Look at how horrible the middle finger looks...smh. It sucks that I ruined such a pretty pink with this. Now I'm off to do my nails again, but I know I'll be wearing Devious Nature again for sure! The other Cult Nails shades I ordered were Let Me Fly, Captivated, and My Kind of Cool Aid.

What are you wearing for Pink Wednesday???

Swatch Alert...Sinful Colors Cloud 9 & China Glaze Lightening Bolt

Kate Spade, BB, American Apparel, Kate Spade

ShopStyle

Here is one of the Sinful Colors that I got during a recent drugstore haul that I talked about here. This is Cloud 9. It's a really pretty orange with some gold shimmer. Cloud 9 is absolutely perfect for the summer time. The application was good...I still had some VNL with 2 coats, but I knew that I was going to layer it with China Glaze's Lightening Bolt so I didn't mind too much. On to the pics...

I love this color and the way it looks on my skin! Lightening Bolt just helped to take it up a few notches. I received lots of compliments on this combo. This was my first swatch of a Sinful Colors polish, but I like it a lot. I can get it for cheap on the ground and the quality is not bad at all. How do you feel about Sinful Colors? Happy polishing dolls!
