Milani Mint Candy

Hi dolls, I have a gorgeous drugstore find for you today; Milani Mint Candy. Mint Candy is a gorgeous mint polish that is filled with blue shimmer. The formula was relatively thick; so thick that I'll probably add a little thinner the next time I use it. Mint Candy is very pigmented and I could have gotten away with one coat, but I did two for depth.

 Gosh, I love this color! The shimmer is absolutely amazing and even more so in the sunlight.

Since it's Wednesday, I attempted to add a little pink by stamping on the mosaic image from Bundle Monster plate #208 using Color Club Hot Like Lava.

I probably should have left well enough alone. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. The image transfer was a little sheer in some parts. Oh well, you can't win them all right?

Pink Wednesday ~ Jelly Sandwich Mani with OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y?

Happy hump day! For this Pink Wednesday I knocked out two more untrieds by doing a jelly sandwich mani. I started with OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-y? I only have this color in a mini bottle, but I definitely want to invest in the full size. OPI minis are just so darn awkward to use and so tiny. I could barely hold any polish on the brush. The color is an amazing berry pink. This is two coats.

I absolutely love jelly finishes! For the next part of the sandwich I added one coat of Milani Disco Lights. This is a light pink glitter suspended in a clear base. It was not hard at all to get the glitter dispersed all over the nail.

Now for one more coat of Do You Think I'm Tex-y? to complete the jelly sandwich.

I absolutely love the way this came out. I don't know why I've never tried a jelly sandwich before...it was super easy. The jelly sorbet polishes from OPI dry relatively quickly so I was able to add each layer right after another. I'm looking forward to trying this again.

My 1st Holo Experience ~ Milani 3D - HD

Holographic nail polishes are all the rage on most nail blogs. People go crazy to get their hands on them. The verdict is still out for me on whether or not this is a trend that I'm gonna be all over. So before spending a lot of money on a polish that shimmers and sparkles many different colors in the sunlight, I wanted to try out a cheapie. Enters Milani 3D- HD, a silver based polished that is packed with glitter. I purchased 3D at CVS. The formula on this polish was just okay. I had to do 3 coats and it got a little goopy near the tips as each coat was added. There was still some VNL (visible nail line), so I'll definitely layer this shade on another polish in the future. These photos were taken on day 2 (we had some rain and gray skies). You may want to click the photos to see the sparkle up close.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use these BM plates...this is the only image that came out well.

I received some tips on buffing my stamper to make the polish adhere better so I'm going to try that out. Back to 3D...I think its okay. I'm not really a silver polish girl, so that may be a part of the problem. I could probably use a few holos in my collection, but it definitely isn't my favorite finish. I'm more of a shimmer/creme girl...but hey...maybe the girls over in the PAA group will convince me otherwise. My students at work already stare at my nails enough...I dont know if some of them would be able to focus with all this sparkle...lol.

How do you feel about holos?!? Are they really worth all the hype?!?
